Description - One (1), mesmerizing, antique, original, mouth blown, clear, flint, controlled bubble CRYSTAL BALL. Solid, paperweight style (flat, polished base).
Maker: *attributed to the Pairpoint Glass Company, of Boston.
It has a flat base for mounting. (No mounting hardware, base, lamp base, or newel post included.)
This ball has a particularly skilled, well-controlled, symmetrical spiraling, bubble arrangement - a swirl that can be seen best when looking down into the ball. Please enlarge my photos to view this great piece. I think it looks better in person, when you can see the attention to accuracy and detail in 3-D.
This amazing piece of glass comes from a late Victorian estate in Princeton, NJ, a family who owned a general store and who tended to keep the best of their stock for their own home. Provenance will be available to the buyer.
Made in USA. “Bullicante” is the Italian term for the technique of introducing a symmetrical bubble pattern into blown glass.
VERY HEAVY FOR SIZE! Solid with bubbles - Weighs 3.1 pounds
About 4” diameter
No base, hardware, or stand included.
This would work as a globe for newel post lamps or Frankart lamps that have the bulb recessed within the base.
Colorless glass, but highly reflective of the colors, environment, and light around it.
Satin polished base
Could be used as a paperweight as the base is flat.
