Description

I have sold over 200 of these. I had to redo the auction which now does not show i sold that many.
THIS TRAM GAUGE IS NOT AVAILABLE AT ANY STORE BECAUSE I DEVELOPED THIS TOOL FROM YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN THE BODY SHOP BUSINESS. I HAVE TOOLS THAT I HAVE DEVELOPED THAT ARE BEING MADE BY STECK TOOL COMPANY.CALL DAN AT 913 515 3721 FOR MORE INFORMATION. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO VIEW ALL THE PICTURES AND DESCRIPTIONS. MEASURE A AND B PILLARS , CASTER, CAMBER, TOE IN, BUMP STEER, STEERING KNUCKLES, STEERING ARMS, A FRAMES, STRUTS, FRONT END ALIGNMENT, AND ALSO USE IT AS A REGULAR TRAM GAUGE. IT IS SO EASY YOU WILL FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE. WHAT YOU DO IS SET THE TOOL UP ON A KNOWN GOOD PART OR HINGE PILLAR AND COMPARE ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER. NO NEED FOR FANCY COMPUTER MEASURING DEVICES WHICH BASICALLY DO THE SAME THING. PLEAS DO NOT DISMISS THIS AS A HOAX YOU HAVE THREE DAYS TO TRY IT OUT AND SEND IT BACK IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY. DOES NOT INCLUDE SHIPPING. KEEP IN MIND THE THOMSON MACHINE GUN WAS TURNED DOWN BY THE GOVERNMENT FOR USE DURING WORLD WAR ONE BECAUSE IT USED TO MANY BULLETS. CAN BE USED IN THE COLLISION REPAIR BUSINESS, OR IF YOU ARE A REBUILDER . USE IT WITH YOUR FRAME MACHINE. I HAVE PERSONALLY PROVED TO A INSURANCE ADJUSTER THAT A STEERING KNUCKLE WAS BENT LESS THAN A 1/16 OF A INCH AND WHEN REPLACED THE KNUCKLE IT CORRECTED THE CAMBER .3 DEGREES. TRY AND PROVE THAT BY A VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE PART. SHIPPING .00 IN THE USA
A TRAM GUAGE BAR WITH 3 POINTER HOLDERS B LEVEL C THREE 1/2 POINTERS D LONG 1/2 POINTER E LONG 3/8 POINTER F N/A DICONTINUED G 2 SHORT 1/8 POINTERS H LONG 1/8 POINTER I SHORT 3/8 POINTER WITH GROOVE IN THE END ALL OF THE POINTERS ARE FROM COMMON 1/8 3/8 1/2 ROD WHICH CAN BE PURCHASED AT ANY HARDWARE STORE. IF YOU LOSE OR BEND ONE THEY CAN BE MADE FROM STEEL THEY DO NOT HAVE TO BE ALUMINUM ,ALSO I INCLUDE A COUPLE OF EXTRA OF THE PLASTIC THUMB BOLTS IN CASE YOU BREAK SOME
TO CHECK B PILLAR OR CENTER POST SET THE LOWER POINTER TO ROCKER PINCHWELL. THE TWO MIDDLE POINTERS ON THE HINGES AND THE LONG 3/8 POINTER AT THE DRIP RAIL ON THE KNOW GOOD SIDE. TRANSFER THE GAUGE TO THE BENT SIDE AND MEASURE. YOU CAN SET THE POINTERS ANYWHERE ON THE POST TO CHECK TO SEE IF THE WEATHERSTRIP WIL SEAL OR AT THE DOOR STRIKER FOR A PERFECT FIT .NO MORE PUTTING THE DOOR ON AND TAKING IT BACK OF TO MAKE ANOTHER PULL. WHENEVER I SUSPECTED A BENT PILLAR WITH NO BUCKLES I WOULD MEASURE IT BEFORE THE ADJUSTER LOOKED AT IT SO I COULD SHOW HIM IT WAS PUSHED IN EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE NO BUCKLES.
START BY SETTING THE LOWER POINTER AGAINST THE ROCKER PINCHWELL IF THIS AREA IS PUSHED IN USE A LONG POINTER AND GO TO FRAME RAIL OR ANY POINT ON THE FLOOR PAN
SET THE POINTERS AGAINST THE HINGES, STRIKER, OR ANY PLACE ON THE POST THAT YOU WANT TO MEASURE
CHECKING B PILLAR ON A MINI VAN THIS VAN WAS A HARD ROLL OVER WHICH I FIXED AND I FOUND THE POST WAS ACTUALLY SWELLED OUT WHEN THE VAN LANDED ON ITS TOP
TO CHECK THE A PILLAR OR FRONT HINGE POST CAN BE DONE WITH THE DOORS STILL ON THE CAR. SET THE LOWER POINTER AT THE ROCKER PINCHWELL AND THEN SET THE MIDDLE POINTERS ON THE HINGES USING THE 1/8 POINTERS THOUGH THE DOOR AND FENDER GAPS. IF YOU USE THIS COMPARISON YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PULL THE COWL OUT AND PUT IT RIGHT ON THE MONEY THE FIRST TIME, ELIMINATING TAKING THE DOOR OFF AND ON TO REPULL
IF THE BOTTOM OF THE ROCKER IS PUSHED IN USE THE LONG 3/8 POINTER AND MEASURE FROM THE FRAME RAIL
TO CHECK FOR FRONT ALIGNMENT USE TWO POINTERS AND SET GAUGE BY USING A KNOWN LEVEL WALL
TO CHECK FOR PROPER FRONT END ALIGNMENT START BY DRIVING CAR TO A KNOW LEVEL SPOT AND MAKING SURE VEHICLE IS LEVEL
SET THE DISTANCE ON THE POINTERS TO FIT THE WHEEL AND COMPARE CAMBER SIDE TO SIDE. IF THE VEHICLE IS ON THE FRAME MACHINE REMOVE THE FRONT WHEELS AND SET THE POINTERS AGAINST THE WHEEL MOUNTING FLANGE OR ROTOR. THIS WILL TELL YOU IF THE CAMBER IS THE SAME SIDE TO SIDE WHILE IT IS STILL ON THE FRAME MACHINE CLAMPS
MAKE SURE STEERING WHEEL IS STRAIGHT SET THE GAUGE SO THAT THE EXTENSION POINTER IS AT THE EDGE OF THE ROCKER WITH THE OTHER TWO POINTERS RESTING ON THE WHEEL. CAUTION WILL NOT BE ACCURATE WITH A BENT WHEEL, COMPARE SIDE TO SIDE AND THIS WILL TELL YOU IF THE WHEEL IS BACK, STEERING WHEEL IS NOT STRAIGHT OR IF TOE INN IS WAY OFF. IF YOU WATCH THE NASCAR GUYS AFTER A CRASH THEY TAKE A STRAIGHT EDGE AND LAY AGAINST THE WHEELS AND MEASURE AT THE ENDS TO A KNOWN SPOT ON THE FRAME TO CHECK THE TOE AFTER A CRASH. YOU ARE DOING THE SAME THING HERE. THIS IS NOT TO SET THE FRONT ONLY TO CHECK TO SEE IF THE ALIGNMENT IS OFF
SET POINTER AT EDGE OF ROCKER
TO CHECK FOR A BENT SPINDLE SET THE TWO LOWER POINTERS AGAINST THE WHEEL FLANGE OR ROTOR USE THE BLUNT SIDE OF THE POINTERS TO IN SURE YOUR GAUGE IS FLUSH WITH THE SURFACE. USING THE THIRD POINTER SET IT AGAINST A BOLT OR SPOT ON THE KNUCKLE WHICH WOULD BE THE SAME ON BOTH SIDES. THEN USE THE GAUGE ON SIDE YOU SUSPECT TO BE BENT. I SHOWED A INSURANCE ADJUSTER THAT A KNUCKLE WAS BENT LESS THAN A 1/16 OF A INCH WHICH CORRECTED THE CAMBER .3 OF A DEGREE TRY FINDING A PLACE IN THE KNUCKLE YOU CAN SHOW THEM WHEN IT IS BENT SO LITTLE
SOMETIMES THERE IS NO PLACE ON THE KNUCKLE THAT IS UP ABOVE THE ROTOR. BY INSERTING ONE OF THE SMALL RODS IN THE END OF THE POINTER YOU CAN ACTUALLY GAUGE A SPOT BEHIND THE ROTOR
TO CHECK A SPINDLE ON A VEHICLE WITH A ARMS. SET THE CENTER POINTER ON THE END OF THE SPINDLE AND THE UPPER AND LOWER POINTERS ON THE BALL JOINTS OR GREASE ZERTS. THIS WILL ALSO TELL YOU IF THE BALL JOINT STUD IS BENT
IF YOU HAVE ACCESS TO A KNOWN GOOD SPINDLE YOU CAN SET THE GAUGE UP LIKE IN THE PICTURE AND GAUGE A SPINDLE EVEN THOUGH IT IS NOT ON THE CAR. THIS GREAT WHEN TO CHECK USED PARTS BEFORE YOU PUT THEM ON
BY SETTING THE TWO OUTER POINTERS UP AGAINST THE A ARM BUSHINGS AND ON THE CENTER USE THE LONG POINTER WITH A 1/8 ROD IN THE END YOU CAN CHECK A ARM ON OR OFF THE CAR
TO CHECK TO SEE IF THE RACK AND PINION IS SETTING IN THE VEHICLE STRAIGHT. USE TWO POINTERS ON THE MOUNTING BOLTS OF THE RACK AND THE OUTER POINTER IS SET AGAINST A SPOT ON THE FRAME OR CROSSMEMBER THAT IS THE SAME ON BOTH SIDES. THEN SIMPLY TURN THE GAUGE 180 DEGREES AND SEE IF THE OUTER POINTER LINES UP TO THE SAME SPOT ON THE OTHER SIDE. THIS WILL TELL YOU IF THE RACK IS SETTING IN THE CAR STRAIGHT. YOU CAN DO THE SAME TEST ON A VEHICLE WITH A STEERING BOX AND IDLER ARM BY SETTING A POINTER ON STEERING ARM AND A POINTER ON THE IDLER ARM AND THE THE OUTER POINTER AGAINST THE FRAME. THEN TURN THE GAUGE 180 DEGREES AND SEE IF THE OUTER POINTER MATCHES THE OTHER SIDE. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO CHECK YOU RELAY ROD TO SEE IF IT IS TRUE TO THE FRAME THIS WILL CORRECT MOST BUMP STEER PROBLEMS
ONE OF THE MOST OVERLOOKED BENT PART IS THE STEERING ARM. SET TWO POINTERS ON THE WHEEL FLANGE OR ROTOR AND SET THE OUTER POINTER AGAINST THE STEERING ARM. YOU CAN ALSO GAUGE A STEERING ARM IF THIS ARM IS TUCKED BEHIND THE ROTOR. I JUST USED ONE OF THE 1/8 RODS TO GO AROUND THE ROTOR
LAST BUT NOT LEAST THIS ALSO A REGULAR TRAM GAUGE
TO USE A ORDINARY TRAM GUAGE IT TAKES A PERSON AT EACH END. SO I USE A 3/8 SOCKET ON THE BLUNT END OF THE 3/8 POINTER. INSTEAD OF ONE PERSON HAVING TO HOLD THAT END. JUST PUT THE SOCKET RIGHT ON THE BOLT FOR A VERY ACCURATE MEASUREMENT
MOST OF THE TIME THE HOOD IS IN THE WAY TO GAUGE THE REAR BOLTS SO I JUST USED A 3/8 BOLT FOR A SHORT POINTER.
TO CHECK ANY OPENING JUST PUT THE POINTER IN TH END OF THE TRAM AND SET IT. THEN SWITCH IT AROUND THAT WILL TELL YOU IF YOUR OPENING IS SQUARE
EVER WONDER WHY SOME OF THE POINTERS HAVE A GROOVE IN ONE END? THAT IS SO YOU CAN HANG THE POINTER BY THE GROOVE IN ANY HOLE. WORKS GREAT WHEN YOU UNDER A CAR MEASURING FORM A HOLE IN THE FRAME RAIL
