About the photographs and their Photojournalistic significance
:
They are from a massive private collection I inherited over fifty years ago from a prominent film and theatre critic of the old Baltimore Sun. The collection dates back to 1924 and covers, vaudeville, motion pictures, the legitimate stage, and early television. It also frequently chronicles relevancies to Baltimore cinémas and theatrical houses such as Fords Theatre, The Academy of Music, The Hippodrome, Century, Valencia, Keiths, and the legendary LYRIC THEATRE known worldwide as one of the finest acoustic houses.
About condition and markings (if any) of photographs in the collection.
The Image Side may display crop marks, tonal enhancements such as air-brushing techniques, masking and other alterations necessary for newspaper publishing in the pre-computer-photoshop era.
Some images are very good-to-near Mint (or Mint) and free of indentations from hand-written notes on the reverse side. Some may have minor indentations from the reverse side which are generally undetectable straight-on. Indentations in excess are noted accordingly. Please examine scans before bidding/buying. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to enquire - I can usually respond with 12 hours.
The Reverse Side may contain hand-written comments, references to corresponding Sun articles, playdates, theatres and attached Press Releases from Theatre/Film studios, theatrical agencies, broadcasting companies and other clippings.

Mint 8 x 10 Paramount Pictures glossy lobby still for the 1952 extravaganza. Dated February 20, 1952 . . . for Keith’s Theatre in Baltimore, one of the city’s landmark film and former Vaudeville houses.
Trivia: When the DeMille epic played Keiths, the foyer was transformed into the entrance go the Big Top tent . . . complete with colored sawdust from the entrance directly into the theatre seats. Rather exciting especially for youngsters.
Original photograph is Mint with some very subtle air-brush toning.
