The front can be opened almost like a wallet or pouch and is zippered. The front compartment holds 12 Cd's, it can easily be removed without damaging the bag to use as a regular compartment. There is a larger zippered compartment that you can use to hold items. It also has a hole on the side to pull a wire through for earphones.
Measures 8.5 inches tall, around 7 inches wide and 2.5 inches in depth.
