Up for auction is a beautiful 1970 Suburban C-10 Carryall finished in two tone Medium Green Metallic and White over a green custom cloth interior. This Suburban is largely original, having one repaint in its original colors approximately 20 years ago. The original build sticker remains in the glovebox revealing many factory options equipped on this Suburban. The original build sheet also remains beneath the front bench seat, although it is becoming deteriorated as shown below. Factory roof mounted A/C, cruise control, positrac rear axle and heavy duty trailing arm suspension with coil springs were all factory equipped. This Suburban also retains its original 350 V8 and Quadrajet carburetor. The engine is stamped with the "TAX" suffix code, significant to a 255 horsepower 1970 350 4 barrel V8 mated to an automatic transmission.
The interior of this Suburban is very well preserved. The front seat had a previous panel replacement as show, but the second and third row seating remains original. All 9 of the original GM seat belts and buckles remain in the Suburban. The vinyl flooring is intact throughout the cab and rear cargo area. The door cards are in great original condition as well as the headliner and sun visors. There is one panel of the cardboard headliner with has began to warp as shown near the A/C unit. The roof mounted A/C unit works in the high speed position and the compressor does cycle on, however the system could use a top off to get the A/C blowing ice cold again. The system has previously been converted to R-134a refrigerant. All of the interior lights are working including the dome light. The cruise control is not currently operable.
The exterior of this Suburban shows incredibly well. The paint is still very well intact despite its age and has a nice shine. The panel alignment is excellent and all three passenger doors, rear barn doors and hood open and close with ease. The body does have a few areas where some rust is beginning to bubble the paint as shown below, but those areas are limited to the passenger rear wheel lip, the forward lower corner of the passenger side rear door skin, and the lower portion of the passenger side front fender. The roof drip rails, door jambs, rockers, door bottoms, floor pans and cargo door jambs are all rock solid as shown. The original wood floor in the cargo area remains intact and is very sturdy.
The undercarriage of this Suburban is very dry and rust free with only minor surface rust on the frame and suspension components. Please scroll below for photos of the undercarriage.
This Suburban runs an drives as well as it looks. The 350 V8 runs smoothly and has plenty of torque. The transmission shifts smoothly and the ride quality is excellent.
